More on the map above in a bit.

Every once in a while, I google Mordecai Jonez just to see the chatter going on about my music.   I love the creativity and challenge of the entire process.   I enjoy the end result of the creation, lyrics and music combined to take me (you) somewhere. That place being relative to each individual’s own mindset.  It is a challenge!

The drive derived from the process is immense. The process is on my mind 24/7. Observation, reading, exposure are all key points to my creative process.

The source of my drive was a strong quest from the age of 60ish to 64ish.   I cannot sit idle. I cannot watch tv or sit in a chair. Just not me.   Must move. Mind, body and soul. So, I searched for a duty, a purpose in my latter years and found it via my dog Scout. (You can read the details in the bio on my webpage). Scout pointed me in a direction. The story of how this all played out is fascinating to me.  But I had found that purpose.

The struggle with any new adventure requires fortitude, drive, and a strong desire to move forward in progress.   This old adage is perfect: how do you eat an elephant?’ The task appears impossible, but the reality is, it is very much possible if put into the proper perspective: ‘ONE BITE AT A TIME.’

So, I would devour my task, one bite at a time.  Refinement comes with repetition. So, the beginning is a bit primitive and from there advance slowly. But ADVANCE!  For me, it was never to be the best guitar player and probably not even in the top 3.14 million. It is the overall package that I savor.  I savor all of it. It simply brings me joy even when the song is not one of joy but of questionable content.

My web search, this round, yielded some very interesting results, and I was very happy about that.  It seems some of my purpose is being heard and commented on and creating a clever resource of opinion. Some feedback is good, some bad, but all satisfying.

It seems to capture the essence of my ikigai, so I wanted to share it and thank those who shared their voices via the web world that allowed this capture.  It made me very happy. More at the end and I almost forgot but I will let you know about the map. Here are the search results:

AHhhhhhh the map at the beginning of the post. Hike a lot with Scout and he is getting old (me too) but his heart is failing. Not sure how long we will goooooo, but we will goooooo as long as we can.

Song writing is storytelling based on experiences for me.   During hikes I think of different things and many of them turn into songs. Good or bad they are the stories. So, take a hike, ride a bike, paddle a kayak, rescue a cat or dog. Pet a dog (with the owner’s permission) and feel love.   See the beauty around you and turn that story into songs or the written word. Tell it to the children so they learn. Tell it to the world so it grows.

Dang this is fun!

I really like this. Thank You Scout for giving me this great gift.

And THANK all of YOU! for helping me to make it this far this fast. What a BLAST!

I want to leave you with words from a song that I did not write, but that I love.

“and I think to myself, what a wonderful life.”
